The Firefly Collection by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society gets a 12/10 for fussy cutting options ✂️. So many adorable little creatures of nature. I used 3 prints from THIS fabric bundle to make a Sunshiny Day Quilt Block (paper pieces and templates can be found HERE). Lots of variety in print sizes and color to make this block your very own!
For this block, I chose to use a dark, light, dark color pattern for the block. I started with the outside pieces, as I really loved these fireflies and wanted to base my block around them. They fit inside the template perfectly, with just a small portion of the glow being trimmed away.
Next I chose the inside diamonds and chose an interesting and colorful small print that went to the edges, so it would create a dynamic look when placed directly next to itself in a circular pattern. And finally, for the middle pieces I chose a lighter print that had colors that paired with both my first and third fabrics and also chose this flower as it was a little larger and the perfect size for the diamond shaped pieces.
